• “Cute” not only has the power to melt hearts, it can also enable people to cope with difficulties and expenses.
• Ask any parent who has ever gotten up in the middle of the night to change a diaper or comfort a child.
• Baby animals have just what it takes to make us want to take care of them – big heads, wide eyes, small noses, and big cheeks.
• This is why the WWF uses a panda as its logo, and not an endangered Chinese giant salamander instead.
• This is why Hello Kitty and Mickey Mouse are raking in billions of dollars.
• And that’s why “baby face” cars like Minis, Beetles and Fiat 500s are so popular.
• In Japan, being cute (kawaii) is everywhere, and Japanese businesses, big and small, use the power of being cute to sell their products.
• Even the Japanese police advertise with a cute mascot.
